Mosquito Tone
Frequencies around 17kHz become harder to hear as you get older. It is called a mosquito tone because supposedly only teenagers hear it — play through the frequencies and find where yours stops.

15kHzAlmost everyone hears this
16kHzMost people up to their thirties
17kHzUsually up to the mid-twenties
18kHzUp to the early twenties
19kHzUp to the late teens
20kHzHearing this is quite rare
Not hearing one does not mean anything is wrong. The cells that pick up high frequencies are the first to wear, so the upper limit dropping is simply normal. Many speakers cannot produce this range at all, so try headphones. The volume is already limited.
