Both systems use the same combination.

Draws a frame; drawing one around existing layers puts them inside it, which is not what a group does.

Figma picks tools with single letters (V, F, R, T). While you are editing text those letters type themselves, so press Esc first.

Reading the key names

Keys joined by + are pressed together: Ctrl+Shift+P means hold Ctrl and Shift, then P.
On a Mac, Cmd is ⌘, Option is ⌥ (labelled Alt on some keyboards), Control is ⌃ and Shift is ⇧.
